Have you ever wondered why a bride wears a veil on her wedding day and she is to be the only one seen in white. Or why there is a check list of something old, new, borrowed, and blue before the bride walks down the aisle to greet the groom. These wedding customs have been practiced and passed down for centuries.

Veil- represents virginity and youth. Worn to keep away and confuse the evil spirits.

White Gown- symbolizes purity and celebration for first time brides. Brides that are remarrying do not have to stay within the tradition, they can choose from the different shades of white.

Something Old and New- can fall under a fallacy but also represents good fortune, continuity and hopefulness for the future. You can easily incorporate these details in the bridal attire, new dress, grandmother’s necklace.

Something Blue- symbolizes love and modesty. For a catholic ceremony, the Virgin Mary who signifies innocence and purity as well.
